It is hard to imagine a more beautiful sight: a valley of blossoms with the world’s most majestic mountains as a backdrop! Lying between the Zanskar Range and the western part of the Greater Himalayas, the Valley of Flowers offers vistas of unparallel natural beauty. During this 11-night/12-day trip, discover rare and endemic varieties of alpine flora at their best between late July and mid-September when the air is perfumed with strong floral scents. Pass flower-filled pastures, pristine lakes, glacier-fed rivers and tumbling waterfalls. What is more, you will be able to trek into this glorious wilderness as well as visit some holy shrines that are famous pilgrimage sites for Hindus and Sikhs. After starting with a fascinating tour of Delhi, India’s capital, explore both iconic Rishikesh where the Beatles spent time in an ashram and the sacred city of Haridwar where the great River Ganges flows out of the mountains and starts its eastward journey across the plains of India.
After breakfast, we set off on a full day, guided tour of the city. In Old Delhi visit Jama Masjid then drive past the Red Fort before taking a short rickshaw ride through the bustling market of Chandni Chowk. You also visit Rajghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. Following lunch we explore the British Raj architecture of Lutyen’s New Delhi, driving past the Rashtrapati Bhawan (President House) and the Parliament buildings with a photo stop at the India Gate. The tour finishes with a visit to the ancient minaret Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb.
This morning we set off to drive to Rishikesh (225 km/5 hrs), situated on the bank of the holy river Ganges, and upon arrival at Rishikesh, check in to the hotel.
Rishikesh, a small town in the State of Uttarakhand is referred to as gateway to the Himalayas and is also a famous centre of advance Yoga-learning courses.
This evening walk across the river on iron suspension bridges, the Lakshman Jhula and the Ram Jhula to witness an Aarti ceremony.

This morning we set off on our adventurous drive travelling along hilly and meandering forested roads leading to Rudraprayag (145 km /4-5 hrs) where we check into our hotel. Named after Lord Shiva (Rudra), Rudraprayag, is situated at the holy confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini Rivers. This afternoon you will have the opportunity of exploring the local market, and of visiting some old temples.

Today, we continue on yet another fantastic drive to Joshimath (120 km / 4 hrs) via Karnprayag and Nandprayad, famous Hindu pilgrimage sites.
Situated at a height of 1870m, Joshimath is one of the four Mathas (monasteries) founded by Adi Shankaracharya and is a Hindu pilgrimage site. It attracts many visitors as it is a base for mountaineering expeditions, the start-point for trekking to Valley of Flowers, as well as visiting Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh pilgrimage site. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel.
The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing you to acclimatize and prepare for tomorrow’s trek. You will also have the option to walk around in the market on your own.

This morning we set off on this incredibly adventurous trek to Ghangharia. We first drive from Joshimath to Govindghat (22 km/1 hr) and then after a brief stop, start trekking to our base site, Ghagharia (14 km/6-7 hrs) at 3049m.
Upon arrival at Ghangaria, check in to the hotel.
The balance of the day is at leisure allowing you to again acclimatize to the altitude.

Following an early breakfast, we start our trek to the famous Valley of Flowers, (5 km/4 hrs, one way) taking a packed lunch with us. Spread over an area of approx. 87 sq km between Zanskar and the Greater Himalayan Range, and at altitudes that vary from 3342m to 3658m, this UNESCO World Heritage Natural Site offers breathtaking views of the valley full of many endemic species of wild alpine flowers such as Blue Poppy, Geranium, Potentilla, Prinula, Lilium, Brahm Kamal besides many others, including plants with medicinal values. Though rare to see, the area is inhabited by wild animals such as Asiatic Black Bear, Snow Leopard, Brown Bear and birds including the state bird of Uttarakhand, the Himalayan Monal.
We return back to Ghangaria before sunset.
Today, setting off with packed lunch we trek to Hemkund Sahib (6 km /4 hrs one way), a holy Sikh pilgrimage site situated on the banks of Hemkund Lake at an altitude of 4320m. This wonderful expedition into the most beautiful natural world that is surrounded by snow capped mountain, helps cleanse your body and soul.
We return back to our hotel in Ghangaria by the evening.
Following breakfast this morning, we trek down to Govindghat (14 km/5-6 hrs) and then drive to Badrinath (25 km/1 hr) along the mighty Alaknanda River with its stunning views.
Upon arrival at Badrinath, check in to the hotel and this afternoon visit the main shrine of Badri Nath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and if time permits, drive further to Mana Village, the last village on the Indian side of the border with Tibet.
