In the morning we visit Elephanta Caves by boarding on a local ferry. Elephanta caves is dedicated to Lord Shiva and one can also see exquisite Hindu and Buddhist, rock cut stone sculptures, dating back to the 5th and 8th centuries. This afternoon, our tour of Mumbai city includes visits to the Gateway of India, Victoria Terminus, Dhobi Ghat (open air laundry (Laundromat) and a drive past Marine Drive. Early morning transfer to the airport to board flight for Aurangabad. Arrive Aurangabad and check in to the hotel. Late morning proceed for excursion to Ellora caves – a cluster of 34 caves that are both monasteries and temples, with Kailasa temple being most interesting, built around 10th & 11th century, which encompasses the three religions – Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. Later enjoy guided tour of Aurangabad city visiting ’Bibi Ka Maqbara’ (called mini Taj Mahal) & Daulatabad Fort (remains closed on Tuesdays). Overnight at Aurangabad
After breakfast, excursion to Ajanta caves. One of the UNESCO’s World heritage Sites, Ajanta Cave Complex has some 30 caves out of which cave no. 9, 10, 19, 26 and 29 are chaitya-grihas and the rest are monasteries. There are paintings in caves which revolves around the life of Buddha and the Jatakas stories. (Ajanta remains closed on Monday) Overnight at Aurangabad
Morning drive from Aurangabad to Nashik Vineyard visiting Trayambakeshwar temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Upon arrival, check into the Sula’s luxury resort Beyond near Gangapur. Nashik is situated on the bank of holy river Godavari, one of the four sites of Kumbha, that takes place every 12 years and next Full Kumbha is scheduled in July-August 2015. In recent years, Nashik has become popular for producing fine Indian wines. They grow good quality grapes and make good vines too. They have opened up their vineyard for Wine Tourism, where you could taste different wines like, red, white or rose and stay in resort built within the vineyard. Morning transfer to Nashik airport for flight to Trivandrum via Mumbai. Upon arrival at Trivandrum you will be transferred to Kovalam Beach, one of the most popular and beautiful beaches on Arabian sea that looks picturesque with its enchanting environs of sun, sand and lush coconut palms swinging with the breeze. You can go for optional excursion to Kanya Kumari (Cape Camorin), which is southernmost tip of India, the confluence place of Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Vivekanand Rock Memorial is on small island and one can take ferry boat to visit and see the sunset here. On your way you could visit beautiful temples at Padmanabhapuram and Suchindram.
